I saw Dr Major regarding a problem that he was described as being a specialist in, in addition to having recently seen a different psychiatrist about a different issue. My first experience had been excellent. However, although Dr Major was very pleasant, I felt that he was less professional than the first psychiatrist - he was dressed very casually, his phone kept ringing and he had to sit on it during the consultation and he also gave me conflicting advice about some medicines I was taking. I did feel slightly judged too which was uncomfortable. I have deliberated about writing this review because I do know it isn't as pleasant as I would like to have written about someone. But it was expensive speaking with him and I don't feel that it was worth the fee. ALso there seems to be a misunderstanding as he was of the opinion that I had asked him to provide a second opinion as if I did not trust the first psychiatrist but it was a different issue. So although I am saddened that I was unable to give a five star review. I am also deliberating on the "would you recommend" rating. Maybe he was just having a bad day, I don't know, but I do feel that at the fee that was charged it would be good to appear more professionally dressed and not have a phone ringing during the consultation. I'd paid for two hours of his time as he requested but he ended the consultation after 1.5 hours and I had to go back to admin and ask for a refund of the unused money. I'm also a bit upset that I am now confused about my medicines as he gave me different instructions to the first psychiatrist and it was medicine that she had prescribed, and that I've been labelled as seeking a second opinion after the first, absolutely excellent, psychiatrist. I wasn't as I trusted her diagnosis and treatment. It appears that psychiatrists don't work like physicians and surgeons where they have specific fields in which they work - beware if you have two issues that seem to be unrelated as you don't need to see a separate psychiatrist for each one. I think.

I had an assessment with Dr. Major on the 4th December, as I wanted a professional opinion as to whether I had a Personality Disorder or not. Prior to the assessment, I was extremely nervous, as I did not know what to expect or what would come up - but Dr. Major's calm and kind manner alleviated these problems. Dr. Major's relaxed and understanding manner made it easy to build a great rapport with him - I felt comfortable enough to talk to him about things that I was not proud of. Some of these topics resulted in a lot of emotion from myself, and Dr Major made sure I was happy to carry on with him. At the end of the assessment, Dr. Major was able to issue a diagnosis. I was told by three different teams within the NHS that they were unable to issue an assessment for my suspected condition, so having a professional answer as to what my condition is has provided relief to both myself and immediate family. Dr. Major also offered to answer any questions or concerns I had over email at no extra cost to myself. I would highly recommend Dr. Major to anyone who requires a mental health assessment - he is calm, easy to talk to, easy to build rapport with and most of all, it's clear he cares about helping you as a patient. I would like to extend a big thank you to Dr. Major.

I arranged a video consultation with Dr Major for an assessment, following several acute anxiety episodes and with awareness that these probably sat on top of lifelong undefined struggles with my mental health. I highly recommend Dr Major, who was kind, considerate and very professional throughout the assessment, and who has promptly provided an extensive report with a detailed diagnosis and clear treatment recommendations. Every single aspect of the consultation was handled very well. Dr Major had read the notes I provided beforehand, he put me at ease at the beginning of the session, and he listened carefully and patiently. I felt able to disclose sensitive information and this was received with empathy and understanding - and not judgement. Dr Major provided an initial diagnosis and outlined treatment options during the consultation. The detailed and comprehensive report he has supplied will allow me to find a way forward in terms of treatment. Dr Major has kindly offered to respond to emails on questions I have at no extra charge. Due to Dr Major's professional and caring approach the assessment (which I slightly dreaded) was a surprisingly positive experience. On a lesser but still important point - considering the time, care, and expertise that Dr Major generously brought to the assessment, it was very good value for money.

Grenville is an excellent doctor, with a kind and attentive demeanour. His experience and high level of knowledge of his speciality was immediately obvious to me on my first consultation. I rate him very highly and am glad I sought his help and advice.

#sayThankYou

Grenville was the first psychiatrist I approached, he is very patient, polite, professional and easy to talk to. I booked a 1 hour appointment, but lasted 1 hour 50 minutes. He was very thorough and was able to help with my personality disorder diagnosis and supposed aetiology. He followed up with a very detailed, extensive report detailing diagnosis and treatment options. Would recommend to anyone seeking help for mental health issues :)
